World Heart Day

Heart

We at Lifeblyss Diabetes Clinic in Kalyan know the importance of the most precious organ of any living body on earth. The organ gives real meaning to life. World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th September of every year. Both governmental and non-governmental organizations celebrate this day from all over the globe. The aim of celebrating this day is to bring awareness among all the people about heart related diseases like heart attack, stroke, heart failure and any other condition related to the same. Various events are conducted by the organizations to promote and educate people about the different preventative steps and changes to be made in lifestyle to avoid any cardiovascular diseases. Heart related diseases can occur at any age due to lifestyle changes. Increasing rates of obesity, mental stress, disturbed sleep patterns, high blood pressure among the younger generation are putting them at risk for heart disease earlier in life.

The risk factors responsible for heart disease are –

1. Unhealthy Eating Patterns –

Many of us nowadays use packaged, ready to use food products which are very attractive, tasty and salty. They are less time consuming and ready to eat. The modern lifestyle demands targets to be achieved in offices, meetings, work pressures, projects to be delivered on time, which makes many of us skip their meals and make us order ready to eat food, which is not beneficial to our health. Eating too much sodium (salt) increases blood pressure, so replacing them with fresh fruits and vegetables can help in reducing the blood pressure.

2. Physical Inactivity

Nowadays everybody is busy with their daily work schedules. Due to that they skip exercising to manage their time. Maximum all the work is being done online, through the network so the habit of spending hours together in front of computers makes munch on unhealthy food items which adds on extra calories. This leads to obesity.

Staying physically active helps in keeping the heart and blood vessels healthy. Spending time on workouts, yoga asanas, meditation at least 20-30 mins daily would keep mind and body healthy.

3. Smoking

Smoking is very bad for health. It nearly affects many organs in the body. It can cause difficulty in breathing, can cause cancers including lung and oral cancers, lung diseases such as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It can lead to the thickening of blood vessels and damage them causing blood clots, stroke, high blood pressure. So taking into consideration the harmful effects of smoking the best thing is to quit smoking, keep away from cigarettes, tobacco.

World Heart Day is celebrated to make everyone realize the complications of heart disease and how it can be avoided by making changes in lifestyle. It is important to try and be more attentive to our own heart health. There are many simple ways to take care of heart and health. They can be done by following a healthy diet, quitting smoking, stopping the consumption of alcohol and getting involved in physical exercises. Proper medications and regular check ups to be done to keep a check on cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Let us make a promise on this day to create awareness and educate people, bring joy in their lives. Let us give the TRUEST meaning to this WORLD HEART DAY.

Thank You !
