World Food Day


World food day is celebrated every year on16th October, to commemorate the foundation of the United Nation Organisation’s Food and Agriculture Association (FAO).

The objective is to create awareness about the existing problems of obesity and malnutrition due to hunger.

Due to changes in lifestyle, working pattern, online education system, work from home facility, so as to avoid stepping out of house to take care against Covid-19, lots of health issues have increased in these few months.

Obesity and malnutrition are the two major cause of concern. To maintain a healthy life it’s very important to maintain balanced diet alongwith workouts. To improve immunity, there are some super foods.

Why not, as the world is facing a pandemic situation, where millions have been affected with covid-19, it's the natural thinking of human being to safeguard themselves, to increase immunity and lead a healthy life.

People eat food for survival, but some of them just keep on eating out of cravings, as per their likes and dislikes.

To maintain a healthy life and good immunity, there are many foods which are right in front of us, now named as SUPERFOOD…. available at very minimal costs and some found in our kitchen used on daily basis...

Consuming them and adding them in your daily routine would definitely improve your health and immune system.

To name, some of the superfoods are -

1) Green Leafy vegetables
Green leafy greens are high in fiber and water content, both of which help to prevent constipation and promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract. Spinach, Kale, beet greens are super food greens.

Nuts are full of fibre and heart healthy fats. Almonds, pistachios, walnuts, cashew, peanuts, seeds like flax seeds, papaya seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds are easily available in market and can be consumed for health benefits.

6) Garlic and Ginger
Garlic contains vitamin B6, vitamin C, minerals and helps in reducing blood pressure, cholesterol. Even helps in building up immunity. Ginger is used as culinary enhancer and also for multiple medicinal effects. It is used in soups, curry preparations and also in tea. It may help in managing nausea, reducing acute and chronic inflammatory conditions.

7) Turmeric (Curcumin)
Turmeric, commonly called as haldi, has an active component curcumin, which has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Its best use is known in treating common cold, cough, inflammatory infections. It may even help in aiding wound healing and pain reduction.

8) Salmon
It is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known for a variety of health benefits, such as reducing inflammation. Including Salmon in diet helps maintain healthy weight, keeps check on sugars under control.

9) Olive Oil
Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). The oil is being considered the healthy fat and is used in salad dressings. It helps in reducing inflammation and risk of other illnesses like heart diseases and diabetes.

10) Green Tea
Green tea is nowadays becoming the favourite caffeinated beverage of people maintaining healthy weight, rather you can say for weight loss. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, which have strong anti-inflammatory effects.

These superfoods are easily available in market and can be used in daily life without any extra efforts. It will really help in maintaining a healthy life if these superfoods are used on regular basis in daily diet. Alongwith these superfoods little efforts should be taken on workouts / exercise which together can bring out beneficial changes in our body.
